The 58th Playing of the Doug Newton
Labor Day Invitational Golf Tournament
September 4th, 5th, and 6th 2010

We need your help with our Doug Newton/Labor Day Golf Tournament. This is the 58th playing of this esteemed tournament and we want this year’s event to be one of the best ever. The point is, we need more players!

There was a time when 80 or more golfers would compete in this event and there were waiting lists for years to come. The event was not held in 2005 due to the start of renovations to the golf course, greens, tee boxes, sand traps and sprinkler systems and the start of construction of our new Club House. The event did not begin again until last year, 2009, with the 57th playing and we are hoping to again, some day, grow this event to 80 players.

Last year we had 32 players, but it was still a great event. The weather was perfect, the competition was exciting, the food was delicious, the Players-Saturday-Night Dinner was elegant and the presentation made by Doug Newton Junior was quite moving. With your help, this year’s tournament is sure to be even better and will include the dedication of the Doug Newton Pavilion, a new outdoor structure added to our Pro-Shop which was mostly funded by contributions from the Doug Newton Family. Our only problem (and it is pressing) is that we need a few more players. Our goal is at least 48 players this year and we are still short of that mark.

To help us reach or exceed our goal of 48 players, we are offering many enticing new incentives. These “incentives” include more cash prizes, free cart rentals for Golf Members, a lower entry fee for members of the military and, for all players, free meals, free drinks on the golf course, lower cart fees for non-members, free cart fees for Club Members, valuable gift certificates and “goodie bags”.

Entry Fee:  $200.00 – Per Person
                  $150.00 – Retired & Civilian Military
                  $100.00 – Active Duty Military

Format:      Saturday and Sunday – Match Play / Monday – Medal Play
                  Tournament Will Be Flighted

Entry Fee Includes:

1)  Saturday and Sunday rounds of golf for all players, and Monday’s round for match winners.

2)  Free practice round on Friday, September 3rd.

3)  Free range balls provided each day.

4)  At least 75% of entry fees will be paid-out in prizes.

5)  Prize money will be awarded to the top 16 players (8 Match Play, 8 Consolation Play).

6)  Automobile “Hole in One” prize.

7)  Morning Breakfast provided in the Pro-Shop on Saturday and Sunday.

8)  Lunch and drinks provided on the course on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

9)  Players’ Dinner provided Saturday evening in the Club’s Banquet Room.

10)  Cart rentals are just $6.00 per person per day, two players per cart, free for Golf Members.

11)  A $50.00 Gift Certificate for food, beverages and other purchases at the Club.

12)  Gift cards for 10 small buckets of range balls for use anytime.
